My Review

What did I like about this book?

Everything!

It was sexy! It was erotic! It was dramatic! And it was a real page turner from beginning to end! I could not get enough of the delicious chemistry that was pouring from the pages. The wording was brilliantly done and I found myself biting my lip as I read through the sexy encounters of our two main characters.

Marcus was a tough-nut, business man who was more interested in work than any emotional connections.

Jennifer was much the same; a lady with a killer pair of legs but who was also powerful in business. Both were keen to work hard and build their reputations; neither wanting to incorporate the difficulties of a romantic relationship into their lives.

And then they met….the attraction was instant and they felt ‘Lust at first sight’.

Nobody said that they couldn’t have fun, right? What happens next is a whirlwind of sexual desire and erotic moments which had me breathless. The pace is perfect and I never found myself wanting. The whole story was enjoyable to read and I found myself rooting for the Marcus and Jennifer as they wove deeper into one another’s lives.

Brilliant writing! Brilliant story! Perfect for anyone who loves Mills and Boons style books! Just beware, this book will turn the heat up!!

Conclusion

I have read books by Rachael Stewart in the past and she never disappoints. This is a fantastic, sexy read. It was difficult to put down. I look forward to reading more of Rachael’s work in the future.

Book Review: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Hi all

I have been busy behind the scenes reading book after book and as always, I have come across some brilliant writing. A friend of mine offered me the book I am about to talk to you about. The summary from the back cover really caught my attention and I was eager to get started. I was drawn in by the main character. The story was written from his point of view, but it was evident from the first few pages that this guy was not what society would deem ‘normal’.

This story was a refreshingly different romance. I found myself lapping up every sentence and enjoying the interactions between the characters, especially between Don and Rosie, whose chemistry was easy to imagine.

Before I give you my review, lets see a little bit about the author.

About the Author

1895943.jpg
Graeme Simsion is a former IT consultant and the author of two nonfiction books on database design who decided, at the age of fifty, to turn his hand to fiction. His first novel, The Rosie Project, was published in 2013 and translation rights have been sold in forty languages. Movie rights have been optioned to Sony Pictures. The sequel, The Rosie Effect, is also a bestseller, with total sales of the two novels approaching five million.
Graeme’s third novel was The Best of Adam Sharp, a story of a love affair re-kindled – and its consequences. Movie rights have been optioned by Vocab Films with Toni Collette attached to play the role of Adam’s great lost love, Angelina.

Graeme’s fourth novel, Two Steps Forward is a story of renewal set on the Camino de Santiago, written with his wife, Anne Buist, whose own books include Medea’s Curse, Dangerous to Know and This I would Kill for. Movie rights have been optioned by Fox Searchlight with Ellen DeGeneris to produce.

About the Book

16181775

An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.

Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a “wonderful” husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical—most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.

Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent—and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don’s Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie—and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper.

The Rosie Project is a moving and hilarious novel for anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of overwhelming challenges. (less)

My Review

I very much enjoyed reading this book and I loved that it came from the protagonists point of view.

We read as Don struggled to manoeuvre himself around a world that was almost alien to him. His quirky behaviour was quite thought-provoking and I read with interest. I understand that the author, Simsion wrote this in a hurry, but I would have liked to have seen more character building from Rosie’s point of view, but that aside the author has created a story that has character and drama.

The interesting part of this book was the way in which it was written. Here we have a romantic novel and it is unusual to read a story from the male point of view only. This allowed me to warm to Don more, as I got to know him and his many intricacies. I rooted for Don from the beginning and loved reading the interactions between him and the few people in his life. I was addicted to this story from the very first page and I found myself reading from cover to cover within a few days.

I would love to tell you more about this book, but I don’t want to give anything away. All I will say is that this book is amazing! It is funny, quirky and certainly full of character.

Conclusion

One Word – FANTASTIC! You have to try this book, its so well written. Simsion has created a wonderful character, someone who I look forward to reading more of in the sequel, The Rosie Effect.

Knowing You wide final.jpg
Hi all,

I am here to introduce you to another fantastic book; this story was ingenious. Full of character and warmth, with just the right amount of mystery and twists. The character of Violet is someone who I can relate to. She is friendly, hard-working and flawed in ways. She is eager to find love but first she has to love herself, which makes for very fascinating and enjoyable reading.

Thanks as always must go to both the author and the blog host for inviting me on this blitz.

This book was a surprising good read; as I have stated in the past, I like to go into a book solely by looking at the cover and taglines. I try to only briefly read what the book is about, so that I can be completely surprised by what I read. This book was a charmer, that’s for sure. It was written brilliantly and held my interest from page turn to page turn.

Before I tell you more about the book, lets have a little bit about the author.

An abrupt change; a new friendship; a dark secret…

Kind-hearted Violet has never fitted in, but despite being bullied at school is now content. She is dating ambitious Lenny, has her dream job in publishing and runs a book club at the local retirement home.

However, when her relationship with Lenny begins to falter, Violet, hurt and alone, seeks the advice of her new flatmate, Bella. She changes her image and with her head held high aims to show that she doesn’t need Lenny in her life to be happy and successful.

Her long-term friends Mable and Farah worry about Bella’s influence and slowly Violet starts to distance herself from them. When she was a child, her closest confidant and companion was a boy called Flint. Her mother didn’t approve of their closeness and he suffered a terrible end. She won’t let the same thing happen to Bella, no matter what anyone says…

Knowing You is about friendship and knowing who to trust with your deepest secrets; it’s about taking control of your life and not being afraid to stand out. Perfect for fans of Ruth Hogan, Gail Honeyman and Amanda Prowse

My Review

When I first got a copy of this book for review, I read the first pages and mistook it for a ‘Bridget Jones’ style story. How wrong could I have been? Never judge a book by the cover and never judge a book by the first few pages….

This book took my initial assumptions and turned them upside down, because what we have here is something a whole lot more; this was a story that resonated with me. The character of Violet was painfully relatable and I found myself reading quickly through each page as I wanted to know how the story panned out. The ‘relationship’ between Violet and Bella is both endearing to read and mysterious. I delved deeper into this book eager to see where the paths of these characters went. The story blended perfectly with chapters which were written from when Violet was young, allowing us to see more into Violet and what makes her who she is.

The writing in this book flowed brilliantly and I found it hard to put down. I had my nose almost pressed up against my kindle screen regularly until I had read through to the very last page! Brilliant writing! I felt the heartache Violet felt from the break-up with Lenny and sympathised with her as she struggled to move forward from it.

It is difficult to write a review sometimes without giving away so much of the book and believe me, I really do want to…but you guys have to trust me and give this book a go. It is a fantastic read and one I will be sharing with my friends and followers alike.

The Cornish Lady was easy to digest and I fell in love with the characters and the world that they inhabited. I loved the detail in the writing and I adored the character interactions. More than once I pored over the pages eagerly as I wanted to read how the story would pan out.

My Review

The book bio for this drew me in from the start. The fact that it was set in the beautiful area of Cornwall was invitation enough for me to start reading it, but I also loved the sound of the story.  I love a story that is full of history and intrigue and this little beauty didn’t disappoint.

I adored the aristocratic air that this story had about it and I welcomed the intricately built love story that is hidden within. Angelica was a very likeable character from the start and I sympathised with the worry she had over her brother, who has fallen under the influence of Jacob, a man who is dark and dangerous.

My favourite character in the book was the mysterious, kind hearted Henry Trevelyan. The interaction between him and Angelica were very enjoyable to read and I loved how their stories intertwined.

This story was brilliant from start to finish and I was not disappointed with how it concluded. I loved the setting, I loved the era that it was set and I loved the characters. A perfect lazy afternoon read.

Conclusion

This was a wonderful read, one that I enjoyed from start to finish.
